Kerryman Article 10/11/08Sunday last saw the second day of competition in the Munster Cross Countrycompetition in Cooraclare, Co. Clare. Despite the terrible weather conditions, there were some fantastic performances by Kerry athletes with Mary Fitzgerald, An Ríocht winning the U17 girls 2000m, and Laura Crowe also of An Ríocht coming in second in the intermediate women’s 3500m. Dean Crowley, Patrick Warren, David O'Connor, and Colin O'Keeffe of Gneeveguilla took first place in the boys U11 800m club placings and Kerry took 3rd place. In the U13 boys 1200m, Kerry took 2nd place with David O'Keeffe(Gneeveguilla), Liam O'Connell (Iveragh), Cillene O'Donovan(Iveragh), Liam Carey (Star of the Laune), Mitchell Holland(Spa Fenit Barrow), and Kieran Lynch(Listowel) making up the team. The An Ríocht intermediate men took 2nd place with Donal O’Callaghan, Tim O'Connor, Joe O'Connor, and Owen McKenna running a great race.
